What is the purpose of intellectual property rights? What do copyrights protect? What is fair use? From whom can we take permission to use materials and information that are copyrighted? You will see copyrights everywhere; for example if you print any page from the Internet or you read a book you will see the copyright sign, that means they are protected.
Intellectual property rights are given by law to protect innovation and the work of authors, artists, companies, musicals, etc. Moreover, copyrights encourage artists, authors, musicals, etc to produce unique and creative works because their work will be protect. Furthermore, music, computer software’s, films, novels, poems, sculptures, etc; are protected by copyrights. For instance, many people download music, computer programs, films, etc, without pay money and this unfair for the authors, organizations or artists because they work hard to produce the work. However, fair use helps people to access to information or work of artists or authors under the control of the owners, also you can copy the information but you have to mention the sources. For example, when I used information that I took from Internet or books for my projects, I have source it for the rights of the authors. In addition, if you want to use materials that are copyrighted, you should take permission from the owners. For instance, once I had an advertising campaign project and it was about Emirate Petrol Station and I took permission from the company to use their loge. (Copyright)
